1.  What information do we collect?

We do not generally require you to provide any personally identifiable information about yourself — information like your name or e-mail address — in order to access the Service.  However, if you want to sign up for our newsletter or communicate with us, we may ask or require you to provide this kind of information, which we will need in order to respond to your requests or communications or for other purposes.

Also, you should know that, like most websites, we collect certain information about your computer on an automated basis when you access the Service.  For example, we may record your IP address, the kind of web browser you are using, and the web page that referred you to the Service.  We also may collect information about your activity on the Service, such as which pages you choose to view.

We also may use technology called cookies, which are small, unique text files stored on your computer, to help us identify you and determine which pages you view.  Your cookie also may include other information, for example, about your web browsing activity.  If you do not want to receive cookies, you can indicate that preference by changing the “Cookies” setting in your web browser software.  If you make this change, however, if may prevent you from receiving cookies delivered by other websites as well.

2.  What do we do with the information we collect?

There are a number of ways that we use the information we collect about you.  For example, we may use this information to:

  • respond to questions or comments from you, provide you with information that you request, or ask you for feedback about e21 or the Service;
  • provide you with copies of our newsletter or other publications;
  • provide you with information about e21 or economic and policy issues relevant to e21’s work;
  • analyze who uses the Service and how they use it; and
  • as otherwise described to you at the point of collection or pursuant to your consent.
  • We may combine the information that we collect about you through the Service with other information, including personal information that we have collected about you from other sources (including from third parties).

3.  Will we share information about you?

We will not share personally identifiable information that we collect about you through the Service with unaffiliated people or organizations unless the sharing falls within one of these limited exceptions:

  • to respond to a question or inquiry received from you or to provide you with information that you request;
  • with service providers that do work on our behalf (such as hosting or operating the Service or our other services, managing our databases, analyzing Service usage, providing you with promotional information on our behalf, or distributing information on our behalf);
  • to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process, in response to a request for cooperation from law enforcement or another government agency, to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or to enforce our User Agreement or protect our rights or the rights of others;
  • in connection with a transaction, such as a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or asset sale;
  • in aggregated or other non-personally identifiable form; or
  • as otherwise described to you at the point of collection or pursuant to your consent.

4.  Can you review the personally information you have provided through the Service?

If you want to review the personally identifiable information that you have provided to us through the Service, you can request that information by emailing us at info@economics21.org.

5.  How secure is the information we collect?

We implement security safeguards to help protect the personal information that you provide to us.  You should know, however, that no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that information about you will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy.

6.  Do we collect information about children?

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.  Should we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete that information from our database.

7.  Are linked sites covered by this policy?

As a convenience to users, we may link from the Service to websites operated by third parties.  Those websites do not operate under this Privacy Policy.  We recommend that you examine the privacy statements posted by the third-party operator before providing personal information on such a website.

8.  Will this Privacy Policy change?

We may update this Privacy Policy in the future.  We will notify you about material changes to this Privacy Policy by placing the updated Privacy Policy on the Service and/or contacting you using any contact information that you have provided us, and we will indicate the date on which the Privacy Policy was most recently updated.  Your continued use of the Service after we modify the Privacy Policy is governed by the practices described in the updated Privacy Policy.
